Product Description

Unlike the Merlot variety already present in the Agro Pontino, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot represent the first tangible results of the viticultural experimentation activity, begun in 1985, which demonstrated their positive adaptation to the Pontine microclimate.
“Madreselva” takes its name from a sinuous climbing wild plant with flowers formed by clusters of multicoloured bellflowers, which fill the undergrowth of the Pontine area with perfume.

GRAPES AND VINIFICATION

It is a blend of equal parts Merlot, Cabernet-Sauvignon and Petit Verdot.
The grapes that make up Madreselva are harvested when fully ripe, but at different times.
The Merlot grapes ripen in mid-September, while the Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot grapes are rather late.
The red vinification of each variety of the blend has a different procedure, as described in the varietal wine sheets, which precede.
Once fermentation is complete, the wines are placed in small oak barrels for 18–20 months, during which the necessary racking takes place. The assembly follows in the above-mentioned proportions.
The refinement in the bottle lasts 8–12 months.

ORGANOLEPTIC EXAMINATION

Bright ruby red of intense concentration; the bouquet has very ripe tones of sour cherries and jammy marasca cherries, on a balsamic background.
In the mouth it is remarkably balanced and persistent, with velvety tannins and a return to fruity and balsamic notes.

WHO WE ARE

Always for Amatrice

For over 20 years we have been selecting and bringing the best products of our land to the tables of families. After the earthquake of August 24, 2016, we were forced to completely reorganize our business, facing numerous difficulties. Courage, support and love for our city have allowed us to move forward with the same determination as before. Today our shop is located inside the Il Corso Shopping Center, built temporarily to deal with the emergency. At the same time, we have created a new e-commerce to allow many people throughout Italy to purchase our products. We are still here, as we once were, to represent and promote the original gastronomic tradition of Amatrice.
